HB 7109 Summary

• Requires the Physician Workforce Advisory Council to conduct an annual survey of all state public and private allopathic and osteopathic medical schools, hospitals, and other entities regarding graduate medical education programs.

• Medical schools must report by January 1 each year on student enrollment origin, residency program placements (in-state and out-of-state), and other workforce data deemed necessary by the department.

• Accredited graduate medical education institutions must report by January 1 each year on approved program positions, Medicare funding, costs, funding sources (Medicare, Medicaid, HRSA, DOD, VA), budgets, completion rates, licensing exam results, and physician practice locations.

• The council shall compile all reported information into a Statewide Graduate Medical Education Report made available to the public by July 1 each year.

• The department shall consult with the Department of Economic Opportunity, Board of Governors, and Council of Florida Medical School Deans to develop the survey form content and design; effective July 1, 2014.
