CS/HB 7149 Summary

• Designates 58 transportation facilities (roads, highways, bridges, and one SunRail station) throughout Florida with honorary names honoring individuals and groups, primarily veterans, military personnel, first responders, and community leaders.

• Directs the Department of Transportation to erect suitable markers for each designated facility.

• Permits a private entity to erect a memorial marker at the Sunshine Skyway Bridge wayside park to commemorate those who died in the May 9, 1980 MV Summit Venture collision, subject to department approval and with the private entity bearing all costs and providing annual security bonds.

• Effective date is July 1, 2014.
