City of Tallahassee authorized to appropriate and pay $700,000 to Mark T. Sawicki and Sharon L. Sawicki as compensation for injuries sustained when a city solid waste collection vehicle struck Mr. Sawicki's bicycle on October 2, 2009

Incident occurred at the intersection of Call Street and North Monroe Street in Tallahassee, resulting in multiple fractures to pelvis, femur, and acetabulum, plus torn urethra and neurological damage to right lower extremities

City of Tallahassee had already paid $200,000 under statutory liability limits, with this $700,000 representing additional settlement amount from a lawsuit filed June 7, 2010 in Leon County Circuit Court

Attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses may not exceed 25 percent of the $700,000 award

This compensation is designated as sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from the incident
