City of Hialeah authorized to appropriate $485,000 to Beatriz Luquez (as personal representative of Lazaro Rodriguez's estate) and his children Lazaro Jr. and Katherine Rodriguez as compensation for wrongful death resulting from a police officer running a red light on July 30, 2000.

Payment schedule: $185,000 within 10 days of the effective date, $100,000 on July 1, 2014, $100,000 on July 1, 2015, and $100,000 on July 1, 2016.

Attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses may not exceed 25 percent of the total amount awarded.

Settlement resolves all present and future claims related to Lazaro Rodriguez's wrongful death under the city's waiver of sovereign immunity under Florida Statutes section 768.28.
