HB 135 Summary

• High school principals may accept voter registration applications from students during the school year, exempting principals from third-party voter registration requirements under section 97.0575.

• Removes neighborhood association identification from the list of acceptable picture identifications at polling places and adds United States passport card and Department of Veterans Affairs veteran health identification card as valid forms of identification.

• Expands the no-solicitation zone at polling places to include voters standing in line, in addition to those inside the polling place or within 100 feet of entrances to polling places, early voting sites, or supervisor offices.

• Extends criminal penalties for influencing or interfering with an elector voting a ballot to include poll watchers, making such actions a third-degree felony.

• Effective date: July 1, 2015.
