HB 295 - Florida Overtime Act of 2015

• Increases the legal day's work from 8 hours to 10 hours of labor in Florida.

• Establishes overtime compensation at 1.5 times base pay for work exceeding 8 hours in a workday, 40 hours in a workweek, or the first 8 hours on the 7th day of a workweek.

• Requires double-time (2x base pay) compensation for work exceeding 12 hours in a workday or exceeding 8 hours on the 7th day of a workweek.

• Prohibits employers from requiring employees to work off-the-clock after clocking out or from paying employees less than contracted hours worked; violations are first-degree misdemeanors.

• Excludes commute time from work hours when employees use employer-owned, leased, or subsidized vehicles for ridesharing purposes; exempts alternative workweek schedules under collective bargaining agreements.

• Takes effect July 1, 2015.
