CS/HB 413 Summary

• Exempts wireless alarm systems (burglar alarms and smoke detectors that are not hardwired) from permit requirements for installation, maintenance, inspection, replacement, or service.

• Increases the maximum cost for uniform basic permit labels for hardwired low-voltage alarm systems from $40 to $55 per label per project per unit.

• Allows local enforcement agencies to coordinate directly with property owners or customers to inspect low-voltage alarm system projects for code and standards compliance.

• Prohibits municipalities, counties, districts, and other local government entities from adopting ordinances or rules regarding low-voltage alarm systems that are inconsistent with this section.

• Takes effect July 1, 2015.
