HB 633 Summary

• Physician must provide oral, in-person informed consent at least 24 hours before abortion procedure, except in medical emergencies.

• Physician must inform woman of: nature and risks of the procedure, probable gestational age verified by ultrasound, and medical risks of carrying pregnancy to term.

• Woman must be offered opportunity to view live ultrasound images and hear explanation, with right to decline; if she declines, she must complete a form confirming the decision was voluntary and without undue influence.

• Ultrasound viewing requirement does not apply if woman presents evidence of being a victim of rape, incest, domestic violence, human trafficking, or having a serious health condition requiring immediate termination.

• Department must provide printed materials on fetal development stages, alternatives to abortion, and medical assistance benefits for prenatal and neonatal care; woman must acknowledge in writing that all required information was provided.
