CS/HB 999 - Recovery Care Services

• Establishes recovery care centers as a new type of licensed health care facility in Florida, defined as facilities providing postsurgical and postdiagnostic care for medically stable patients with a maximum 72-hour patient stay.

• Recovery care services are limited to cases where acute hospitalization is not required and uncomplicated recovery is expected; services exclude intensive care, coronary care, and critical care services.

• Requires recovery care centers to be licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration, maintain emergency care and transfer protocols with at least one hospital, and implement discharge planning procedures.

• Recovery care centers are exempt from certain minimum licensure requirements under the Health Care Licensing Procedures Act and must meet standards for dietetic services, medication administration procedures, and pharmacy services.

• Takes effect July 1, 2015.
