• Creates section 627.64194, Florida Statutes, regulating health insurance coverage of abuse-deterrent opioid analgesic drugs.

• Prohibits health insurance policies from imposing prior authorization requirements for abuse-deterrent opioid products unless the same requirement applies to equivalent non-abuse-deterrent opioid products.

• Prohibits health insurance policies from requiring patients to use non-abuse-deterrent opioid products before authorizing coverage of abuse-deterrent opioid products.

• Does not mandate health insurance coverage of any opioid analgesic drug product or abuse-deterrent opioid analgesic drug product.

• Effective January 1, 2016.
