School districts must notify parents of students with IEPs or 504 plans by April 1 each year and within 10 days of plan meetings about all available educational options, including the John M. McKay Scholarship program.

Parents must sign a statement acknowledging receipt of scholarship information and awareness of available options for their student.

School districts must retain parent acknowledgments and submit copies annually to the Department of Education in the department's prescribed format.

The Department of Education may provide a standard acknowledgment form to school districts, and districts must use this form if one is provided.

The act takes effect July 1, 2015.
