City of Hialeah is authorized and directed to pay $485,000 to the Estate of Lazaro Rodriguez and his survivors (widow Beatriz Luquez and children Lazaro Jr. and Katherine) for a wrongful death caused by Officer Jorge Rodriguez running a red light on July 30, 2000

Payment schedule requires $385,000 on July 1, 2015, and $100,000 on July 1, 2016, completing a total settlement of $685,000 (the city previously paid $200,000 plus $25,000 in costs)

Attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses are capped at 25 percent of the total amount awarded

The appropriation settles all present and future claims arising from the incident in which 28-year-old Lazaro Rodriguez was killed when an off-duty response by a Hialeah police officer resulted in a collision at Palm Avenue and East 32nd Street
