City of Tallahassee authorized to appropriate and pay $700,000 to Mark T. Sawicki and Sharon L. Sawicki as compensation for injuries sustained when a city solid waste vehicle ran over Mark T. Sawicki on October 2, 2009.

Mark T. Sawicki sustained multiple fractures to pelvic region, femur, and sacrum; torn urethra; abrasions and lacerations; and neurological damage resulting in a dropped foot.

Payment of $700,000 combined with the $200,000 already paid by the city under Florida statutory liability limits totals $900,000 settlement of Circuit Court Case No. 2010-CA-1984 in Leon County.

Attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses relating to the claim may not exceed 25 percent of the $700,000 award.

Combined payments constitute sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from this incident; effective upon becoming law.
