• Haines City must appropriate and pay $825,094 to Thomas and Karen Brandi as compensation for injuries and damages resulting from negligence by a Haines City Police officer in a March 26, 2005 vehicle accident.

• Thomas Brandi was hit by a police car driven by Officer Pamela Graham who ran a red light at over 45 mph; a jury found Haines City 60% liable and awarded Thomas Brandi $450,000 for pain and suffering and Karen Brandi $175,000 for loss of consortium.

• The $825,094 payment, combined with the $200,000 Haines City already paid under sovereign immunity limits, constitutes full and sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from the accident.

• Attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses relating to this claim cannot exceed 25% of the total amount awarded under the act.

• The act takes effect upon becoming law.
