Public Health Trust of Miami-Dade County (Jackson Memorial Hospital) shall appropriate $699,999 to a special needs trust for Asia Rollins to compensate her for negligence resulting in permanent injuries.

Asia Rollins suffered a global ischemic brain injury, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, and cortical blindness following oxygen deprivation during intubation procedures on October 26, 2011, when she was 3 years old.

Total settlement amount is $999,999, with $300,000 already paid under Florida statutory liability limits and $699,999 remaining to be paid under this act.

Attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses relating to this claim may not exceed 25 percent of the amount awarded.

The awarded compensation constitutes sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from the incident described in the act.
