HB 4029 Summary

• Amends Florida Statutes Section 1009.26 to modify out-of-state fee waiver provisions for state universities, Florida College System institutions, career centers, and charter technical career centers

• Deletes provisions that would have eliminated out-of-state fee waivers for students who attended secondary school in Florida for 3 consecutive years before graduation, applied within 24 months of high school graduation, and submitted official Florida transcripts

• Retains existing requirements that waived tuition and fees cannot exceed resident student charges and waiver applicability is limited to 110 percent of required credit hours for the degree or certificate program

• Maintains existing restrictions that out-of-state fee waiver students are classified as nonresident students, ineligible for state financial aid, and must not be reported as residents for tuition purposes

• Takes effect July 1, 2015
