HB 4037 Summary

• Deletes the requirement in Florida Statute 741.04 that marriage licenses only be issued to one male and one female.

• Removes the provision in Florida Statute 741.212 that defines "marriage" as a legal union between one man and one woman and limits "spouse" to members of such unions.

• Maintains existing requirements for marriage license applicants to provide social security numbers or other identification and be at least 18 years old.

• Takes effect July 1, 2015.
