CS/CS/HB 7047 - Bundled Health Care Services Summary

• Requires analysis of medical tourism for bundled health care services in the Economic Development Programs Evaluation by January 1, 2015, and every 3 years thereafter.

• Directs Enterprise Florida, Inc. to collaborate with the Department of Economic Opportunity to market Florida as a health care destination using medical tourism initiatives.

• Requires the Division of Tourism Marketing to include promotion of medical tourism for bundled health care services in its 4-year marketing plan, including initiatives to showcase qualified health care providers meeting specific licensing and accreditation standards.

• Creates new statute § 624.27 establishing that direct primary care agreements do not constitute insurance and are not subject to the Florida Insurance Code; providers do not need a certificate of authority to offer such agreements.

• Direct primary care agreements must be in writing, specify monthly fees and covered services, allow termination by either party, offer refunds if provider ceases services, and disclose that the agreement is not health insurance; effective July 1, 2015.
