Florida House of Representatives recognizes Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., for its commitment to worldwide service and appreciates the organization's service to Florida residents.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., was founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University and is the first Greek-letter organization established for and by African-American college women.

The 2014-2018 International Program "Launching New Dimensions of Service" addresses community needs through five initiatives: Educational Enrichment, Health Promotion, Family Strengthening, Environmental Ownership, and Global Impact.

Members annually participate in International Community Service Days including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, Pink Goes Red for Heart Health Day, 1908 Playgrounds Mobilization Day, Alzheimer's Support Activities, Mental Health Awareness Day, and Childhood Hunger Awareness Day.

A copy of this resolution shall be presented to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., as acknowledgment of the sentiments expressed in the resolution.
