Honors Donna Edna Shalala, Ph.D., upon her retirement as the University of Miami's fifth president after 14 years of service.

Recognizes her lifetime achievements as an educator, administrator, mentor, and public servant, including her role as the longest-tenured Secretary of Health and Human Services (1993-2001) under the Clinton Administration.

Acknowledges her leadership in raising $1.4 billion through the "Momentum" fund-raising campaign by 2007, the first time a Florida university surpassed the billion-dollar mark.

Notes that under her determination and leadership, the University of Miami rose to national prominence and is now ranked among the top 50 colleges in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.

Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to Dr. Shalala as a token of the sentiments expressed.
