Florida House of Representatives commends the Independent Colleges & Universities of Florida for five decades of service to students, communities, and employers in the state.

31 member institutions serve more than 155,000 students at 135 sites across Florida, offering over 400 online degree programs and awarding more than 60 percent of degrees in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, health care, business, and education.

Organization was created in 1965 by presidents of 11 colleges and universities and helped establish the Florida Student Assistance Grant Program in 1972 and the William L. Boyd, IV, Florida Resident Access Grant Program, which assists nearly 38,000 students annually.

Member institutions represent $10 billion in assets, employ 35,000 people, and have annual operating budgets exceeding $5 billion, contributing significantly to Florida's economic vitality.

In its Golden Anniversary year, these independent colleges and universities will award 25 percent of all bachelor's degrees, more than 50 percent of first professional degrees, and more than 40 percent of advanced degrees in Florida.
