SB 332 Summary

• Requires each nursing home resident to be assessed for pneumococcal vaccination eligibility within 5 business days of admission rather than by a fixed date.

• Residents determined to be eligible shall be vaccinated or revaccinated within 60 days of admission in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations.

• Exempts residents with medical contraindications or those with religious or personal belief objections from vaccination requirements.

• Allows residents to elect vaccination from their personal physician instead of facility administration, provided they submit proof of immunization to the facility.

• Effective date: July 1, 2015.
