SB 558 Summary

• Removes obsolete July 1, 2014 deadline and changes food service establishment inspection frequency reassessment from annual to "at least annually."

• Eliminates requirement to distribute food-recovery brochures directly to inspected establishments; instead requires the department to notify establishments of the brochure's availability.

• Removes the 3-day duration limitation on how long licensed public food service establishments may operate at temporary food service events.

• Authorizes the Division of Hotels and Restaurants to deliver lodging and food service inspection reports by electronic means in addition to personal delivery or registered mail.

• Requires public food service establishment operators to maintain and make available a copy of their latest inspection report to the division at the time of inspection and to the public upon request.

• Simplifies delinquent license renewal fee structure by removing the tiered fee schedule (eliminates the separate $100 fee for renewals filed 30-60 days late) for both public lodging and food service establishments.
