SB 1258 Summary

• Creates section 448.115, F.S. to protect licensed health care workers from employer retaliation for refusing unsafe or incompetent assignments
• Defines "licensed health care worker" as individuals licensed under chapter 464 or chapter 468 of Florida Statutes
• Prohibits employers from disciplining, threatening, or taking retaliatory action against licensed health care workers who refuse assignments outside their competency or that would violate professional discipline standards
• Applies to hospitals, medical facilities, individuals, firms, partnerships, institutions, governmental entities, corporations, or associations that employ licensed health care workers
• Takes effect July 1, 2015
