Congratulates Seminole State College of Florida on its 50th anniversary, celebrating June 4, 2015, marking 50 years since the college's creation by the Legislature and Governor W. Haydon Burns on June 4, 1965.

College has grown from 754 students at founding to serving more than 30,000 students across six campuses and sites in the Sanford/Lake Mary area, offering 198+ programs including Associate degrees, Bachelor's degrees, and vocational programs.

College has awarded more than 80,000 degrees and certificates since founding, with graduating classes expanding from 112 students in 1967-1968 to 5,955 in 2013-2014 academic year.

Student body is 55 percent women, nearly 50 percent minorities, 42 percent nontraditional students age 25 and older, with students from 23 states and 75 countries.

College serves as third-largest employer in Seminole County with $430 million estimated positive annual economic impact, awards nearly $80 million in financial aid annually, and has partnered with University of Central Florida to provide guaranteed entry pathways for over 9,000 qualified students.
