Recognizes October 14-24, 2015, in commemoration of Chef Earl Peyroux's life and legacy.

Chef Peyroux was born October 24, 1924, in New Orleans and studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and with culinary legends including Julia Child, Jacques Pépin, and Paul Prudhomme.

Developed the pioneering cooking program "Gourmet Cooking" which first aired in 1977, ran for 660 episodes over 18 years, and was syndicated by 140 public broadcasting stations nationwide.

Taught at Pensacola Junior College (now Pensacola State College) in the 1970s and authored seven cookbooks featuring Creole and French-inspired dishes.

Chef Peyroux passed away on October 23, 2003, after a distinguished career and is honored for his contributions to Pensacola, Florida, and the nation.
