Students entering grade 9 in 2016-2017 and later must earn one-half credit in health education as a standalone requirement, separate from physical education

Health education requirement can be waived if a student requests to take and scores "C" or better on a health education assessment developed by the Department of Education

Required elective credits reduced from 8 to 7.5 credits for students entering grade 9 in 2016-2017 school year to accommodate the new health education requirement

Physical education courses will no longer include integrated health education starting with the 2016-2017 school year
