Creates section 83.491, Florida Statutes, requiring landlords to provide written notice in residential lease agreements regarding tenants' personal liability and liability for loss or damage to personal property

Requires leases that mandate renters insurance to specify the coverage required

Requires leases that do not mandate renters insurance to include a specific disclosure statement advising tenants that the landlord's insurance does not cover personal property or personal liability and recommending they contact a licensed insurance agent

Applies to any lease agreement entered into on or after January 1, 2017

Effective date is January 1, 2017
