CS/HB 1027 Summary

• Exempts pleadings, documents, and personal identifying information on dockets from public records requirements for involuntary examination and treatment court proceedings under Chapter 394, Florida Statutes (Baker Act cases)

• Permits court clerks to disclose exempted records upon request to specified parties including the petitioner, respondent, their attorneys, guardians, health care providers, and others with court-ordered authorization based on good cause

• Prohibits court clerks from posting personal identifying information on publicly accessible dockets or files related to these proceedings

• Exemption applies to all documents filed before, on, or after July 1, 2016, and is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act, repealing October 2, 2021 unless reenacted by the Legislature

• Takes effect July 1, 2016
