• Stop increases in the federal loan guarantee program for new nuclear energy facilities and rescind remaining funds.
• Eliminate funding for mixed oxide plutonium fuel fabrication plants.
• Support energy efficiency and renewable energy sources while funding nuclear waste immobilization and environmental cleanup programs.
• Enact a moratorium by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on nuclear waste operations until safe transportation and permanent storage methods are established and existing plants and storage sites are secured against terrorist attacks.
• Direct the Department of Energy to monitor compliance with cleanup agreements and authorize a nationwide security study by the NSC, CIA, DoD, DIA, and DHS to determine the best energy mix for national security.
