Honors the life and legacy of former Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Leander Jerry Shaw, Jr., who died December 14, 2015, at age 85.

Recognizes Shaw's groundbreaking career as one of only 25 black attorneys admitted to The Florida Bar in 1960 and his appointment as the second black member of the Florida Supreme Court in 1983.

Commends Shaw for becoming the first black Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court in 1990 and for being a pivotal force in restoring public faith in the court's integrity following 1970s scandals.

Notes Shaw's service as an outspoken critic of capital punishment, specifically the state's use of the electric chair for executions.

Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to Shaw's family as recognition of his lifetime achievements in the practice of law.
