Derrick Henry, a Yulee High School graduate born July 17, 1994, won the 2015 Heisman Memorial Trophy, college football's most prestigious player award, on December 12, 2015.

Henry signed with the University of Alabama on September 28, 2012, choosing the school over 15 other universities including Tennessee, Clemson, and Louisville.

During the 2015 season, Henry recorded 28 rushing touchdowns and a school single-season rushing record of 2,219 rushing yards while leading Alabama to an 11-1 regular season and the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship.

Henry received the Maxwell Award for player of the year and the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back on December 10, 2015.

The Florida House of Representatives recognizes Henry's outstanding performance during the 2015 football season and congratulates him on his Heisman Memorial Trophy award, with a copy of this resolution to be presented to him.
