North Broward Hospital District must appropriate and pay $608,554.78 to Charles Pandrea as compensation for the death of his wife Janet Pandrea from medical negligence.

Janet Pandrea died on April 2, 2002, after being misdiagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma by pathologist Peter Tsivis, M.D., when she actually had a benign thymoma, leading to harmful chemotherapy treatment.

A Broward County jury returned a verdict of $808,554.78 on June 8, 2005, against the hospital district, which had already paid the statutory limit of $200,000 under Florida law; this bill authorizes payment of the remaining balance.

Attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses related to this claim may not exceed 25 percent of the $608,554.78 award.

The combined payments from the hospital district constitute sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from Janet Pandrea's death.
