Pasco County School Board is directed to pay Marcus Button $1,246,215.29 to compensate for injuries and damages sustained due to negligence of a school bus driver in a September 22, 2006 accident.

Pasco County School Board is directed to pay Mark and Robin Button (Marcus's parents) $261,148.95 for injuries and damages sustained by their son.

Marcus Button sustained severe injuries including facial and skull fractures, brain damage, vision loss, and psychological symptoms requiring 24-hour care for life; jury verdict totaled $1,670,364.24 with school board found 65 percent liable.

Combined payments of $1,507,364.24 under this act, plus the $163,000 previously paid under state law, constitute sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from the accident.

Attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses may not exceed 25 percent of the total amount awarded under the act.
