Amends section 456.031, F.S. to require licensing boards to include instruction on human trafficking in addition to domestic violence in the mandatory 2-hour continuing education course for relicensure or recertification every third biennial renewal.

Applies to licensees and certificateholders under chapters 458, 459, 464, 466, 467, 490, and 491 of Florida Statutes (medical professionals).

Human trafficking course section must cover types of trafficking, victim risk factors, medical record management, patient safety, social services and hotline referrals (National Human Trafficking Resource Center and Department of Homeland Security), assessment tools for identifying victims, and legal/social service referral options.

Allows licensees holding multiple licenses subject to this requirement to submit proof of completion of one board-approved course for all their licenses.

Establishes that failure to comply constitutes grounds for disciplinary action, and non-compliant licensees must complete the course as additional discipline.

Effective date: July 1, 2016.
