Requires registered interns in clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, and mental health counseling to have a licensed mental health professional on the premises when providing services in a private practice setting.

Establishes intern registration expiration periods: registrations issued on or before April 1, 2017 expire March 31, 2022 and cannot be renewed, while registrations issued after April 1, 2017 expire 60 months after issuance.

Prohibits individuals who have held a provisional license from applying for intern registration in the same profession.

Requires candidates to pass the theory and practice examination before obtaining a subsequent intern registration.

Eliminates certain education and experience requirements previously specified for registered interns and removes language restricting off-premises work experience.
