Requires the State Fire Marshal to establish uniform firesafety standards for assisted living facilities pursuant to section 633.206, replacing previous Department of Elderly Affairs responsibility.

Updates firesafety code reference from NFPA 101 1994 edition to current editions of NFPA 101 and 101A for determining uniform firesafety codes for assisted living facilities.

Clarifies that local governments and utilities may charge fees only for actual expenses incurred relating to installation and maintenance of automatic fire sprinkler systems in existing licensed assisted living facilities.

Exempts assisted living facilities licensed before July 1, 2016, from firesafety requirements exceeding NFPA 101 1994 edition Chapter 23 standards, unless the facility undergoes building rehabilitation.

Requires all licensed assisted living facilities to have annual fire inspections conducted by local fire marshals or authorities having jurisdiction.
