Honors the life and legacy of Honorable Leander Jerry Shaw, Jr., former Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice, who died December 14, 2015, at age 85

Recognizes Shaw as one of only 25 black attorneys admitted to The Florida Bar in 1960, and later became the second black member of the Florida Supreme Court and its first black Chief Justice (1990-1992)

Notes his distinguished career including service as a Korean War artillery officer, assistant professor of law at Florida A&M University, assistant public defender, and state attorney leading the Capital Crimes Division

Credits Shaw with helping restore public faith in the Florida Supreme Court following scandals in the 1970s and acknowledges his opposition to the electric chair for capital punishment

Directs that a copy of the resolution with the Senate Seal be presented to Shaw's family as a token of the Florida Senate's sentiments
