Revises Florida Statutes section 790.06 to prohibit carrying concealed weapons or firearms in the sterile area of any airport, removing previous exception allowing encased firearms to be carried through terminals for checked baggage purposes.

Maintains prohibition on carrying concealed weapons or openly carrying handguns in 14 other locations including courthouses, schools, polling places, legislative buildings, and federal prohibition areas.

Preserves exception allowing judges to carry concealed weapons in courtrooms and authorizes them to determine who else may carry weapons in their courtrooms.

Allows licensed persons to carry or store firearms in vehicles for lawful purposes without restriction.

Takes effect July 1, 2016.
