Protects the identity of whistleblowers who report suspected violations of federal, state, or local laws, or gross mismanagement, misconduct, waste of public funds, or neglect of duty to inspectors general or local officials

Makes confidential all information received or produced during active investigations by the Chief Inspector General, agency inspectors general, Florida Commission on Human Relations, or local officials

Allows disclosure of confidential information only when necessary to prevent substantial danger to public health, safety, or welfare, or to prevent imminent commission of a crime

Establishes that unauthorized disclosure of confidential investigatory information constitutes a first-degree misdemeanor

Includes a sunset provision requiring legislative review by October 2, 2021, under the Open Government Sunset Review Act
