Recognizes January 21, 2016, as "Community Action Agency Day" in Florida

Florida has 27 community action agencies serving 66 of 67 counties, part of a national network of 1,065 agencies created under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964

In 2014, Florida community action agencies served 694,225 individuals and 271,894 families, helping 2,702 unemployed individuals obtain employment and 881 complete post-secondary education

At the time of the resolution, 16.5 percent of Florida's population (over 3.3 million people) lived below the federal poverty level, and more than 3.6 million Floridians received food stamps

The resolution commends community action agencies for mobilizing 67,508 community members and providing emergency assistance to 262,624 low-income individuals and families in 2014
