CS/HB 29 Summary

• Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles shall develop eight new specialty license plates for four fraternities (Alpha Phi Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Kappa Alpha Psi, Phi Beta Sigma) and four sororities (Zeta Phi Beta, Delta Sigma Theta, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sigma Gamma Rho).

• Annual use fee of $25 shall be collected for each specialty license plate.

• Fee distribution for each plate: 10% to the respective organization's foundation for marketing, 85% to the foundation for community awareness and educational/economic/cultural service activities in Florida, and 5% to the United Negro College Fund for college scholarships at historically black colleges and universities.

• Each plate must display "Florida" at the top and the name of the fraternity or sorority at the bottom with department-approved colors and design.

• Act takes effect October 1, 2017.
