Personal identifying information of witnesses to murder (as defined in s. 782.04) is made confidential and exempt from public records requirements for 2 years after the date the murder is observed by the witness

Criminal intelligence or criminal investigative information revealing a murder witness's personal identifying information is exempt from public records disclosure, subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act with repeal date of October 2, 2022

Criminal justice agencies may disclose witness information in the furtherance of official duties, to locate or identify missing or endangered witnesses, to other governmental agencies, and to parties in pending criminal prosecutions as required by law

The public records exemption applies to personal identifying information of murder witnesses that is made part of a court file

Act takes effect July 1, 2017
