HB 237 Summary

• Establishes the "Driving Under the Influence of Drugs (DUID) Act" to address drug-impaired driving and boating.

• Amends section 316.193 to add a new offense condition: driving with a blood level of 5 nanograms or more of delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) per milliliter of blood is driving under the influence.

• Amends section 327.35 to add the same THC threshold condition for boating under the influence: operating a vessel with 5 nanograms or more of delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol per milliliter of blood.

• Applies existing penalties for DUI and boating under the influence violations to the new THC-based offenses.

• Effective October 1, 2017.
