HB 489 - Restore Our Bright Futures Act

• Removes the "if funds are available" condition for summer term enrollment, requiring the Legislature to appropriate necessary funds through the General Appropriations Act.

• Increases test score requirements for Florida Academic Scholars award to SAT 1290 (89th percentile) or ACT 29 for 2017-2018 high school graduates, with decreasing scores in subsequent years.

• Increases test score requirements for Florida Medallion Scholars award to SAT 1170 (75th percentile) or ACT 26 for 2017-2018 high school graduates, with decreasing scores in subsequent years.

• Expands Florida Academic Scholars awards to cover 100 percent of tuition and fees plus $300 per semester for textbooks and college-related expenses beginning fall 2017.

• Expands Florida Medallion Scholars awards to cover 75 percent of tuition and fees plus $200 per semester for textbooks and college-related expenses beginning fall 2017; allows technology fees to be included in awards for these two scholar programs.
