Department of Transportation shall evaluate the viability and cost of a uniform system of high-visibility pavement markings and signage for safe school crossings on arterial or collector roads within a 1-mile radius of all public and private schools.

Department may consider implementation of new technology or innovations that enhance pedestrian and crosswalk visibility as part of the evaluation.

Department must submit a report to the Governor, President of the Senate, and Speaker of the House by January 1, 2018, providing findings and recommendations for legislation relating to safe school crossing locations.

Act takes effect July 1, 2017.
