Requires students entering 9th grade in 2017-2018 school year and beyond to earn one-half credit in health education as a separate requirement independent of physical education

Allows waiver of health education requirement if student requests and passes a health education assessment with a grade of "C" or better, developed by the Department of Education

Students who waive health education must earn eight elective credits instead of the reduced amount

Reduces elective course requirement from eight credits to seven and one-half credits for students entering 9th grade in 2017-2018 school year and beyond

Effective date is July 1, 2017
