CS/HB 1077 Summary

• Establishes minimum trauma center requirements for Florida trauma service areas based on population: at least one Level I or Level II center in all areas, minimum two centers in areas exceeding 1.25 million population, and minimum four centers in areas exceeding 2.5 million population.

• Authorizes the Department of Health to allocate additional trauma centers above the minimum numbers deemed necessary through rule.

• Requires all Level I, Level II, and pediatric trauma centers that have received provisional approval, final approval, or verification from the department to count against the statewide total number of allocated trauma centers.

• Applies the same minimum trauma center requirements to the selection and approval process for provisional trauma centers under section 395.4025.

• Takes effect upon becoming law.
