Amends Florida Statutes section 633.208 to provide an exception to standard balcony guard requirements for buildings constructed before 1965 that obtained a certificate of occupancy before 1965

Allows balcony guard openings that permit passage of a sphere greater than 4 inches in diameter and less than 42 inches high if the guard was approved as part of the original building design

Applies only to buildings that are at least 40 inches high and designated as historic property, contributing property to a historic district, or eligible for local historic property designation under local preservation ordinance

Supersedes any contrary provisions in the Florida Fire Prevention Code

Effective date is July 1, 2017
