Excludes taximeters from the definition of "weights and measures" under Florida Statutes section 531.37, specifically devices that measure time and distance for charging transportation fares.

Removes the exemption for taximeters from commercial use permit requirements in section 531.61, making them subject to the same permit regulations as other commercial measuring devices.

Eliminates the limitation on annual commercial use permit fees for taximeters in section 531.63, allowing fees to exceed the previously set $50 maximum per device annually.

Requires taximeters to be licensed, permitted, or registered by a municipality, county, or local government and tested for accuracy and compliance with state standards.

Takes effect July 1, 2017.
